It worked perfectly well today. Nothing against Ferraris, but if I remember correctly, the NSX cost about 1/3 as much, probably required less than 1/3 the cost to run and was more reliable, yet the NSX never did particularly well in the marketplace nor did it ever attain anything like iconic status. Whatever the reasons for this, it is at least curious. Please correct me if I have the numbers wrong - they are merely approximations from memory, and it was quite a while ago. The comparison was interesting to watch, and the NSX driver was indeed a badass.

The NSX did absolutely attain iconic status, even at its time. Every major worldwide auto mag considered it equal or near-equal to contemporary European exotics. Now, the NSX is totally revered as ahead of its time. The only mar against it historically is that Honda gradually raised its price and ruined its design during the car's lifespan.

NSK, I guess you don't know what is meant by iconic status. You and I and a coterie of cognoscienti know it was a great car, but it is hardly a household name. Many people who can identify a Ferrari or a Lamborghini at a distance don't know the NSX existed. What do they sell for now compared to Ferraris of the same vintage?

The NSX has most certainly reached iconic status. Just because Lambo and Ferrari are known by the masses more than the Acura NSX does not disqualify its iconic amongst people that know about cars. If name recognition is all it takes to make something "iconic", then Honda is iconic because it too is a household name.
